Tips
- Commerce City runs its own Building Safety Division — permits go through the City itself, not a regional or county authority such as the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department (PPRBD) that serves Colorado Springs.
- The entire permit process is conducted electronically via eTRAKiT; there is no paper submission path.
- Fire district review (South Adams County Fire District or Brighton Fire District, depending on location) is a separate submission outside city government -- budget extra time and a separate fee.
- Plan Review Fee is a straightforward 65% of the Building Permit Fee, simpler than some jurisdictions' tiered plan-review schedules.
