Commercial Building Permit (New Construction / Additions / Alterations) in Superior, Colorado
Required for new construction, additions, and alterations to commercial and multi-family buildings in the Town of Superior. Reviewed under the 2024 IBC as adopted by Superior Municipal Code Chapter 18. Applications are submitted through Community Core using the Town's dedicated 'Commercial and Multi-Family Plans Submittal Checklist' (distinct from the Residential Application Checklist) and reviewed by the Town's Planning & Building Department, whose Building Division is operated by SAFEbuilt. Mountain View Fire Protection District requires commercial plans be submitted with its own Plan Review Application and reviews the building plans in addition to separate submittals for the fire alarm, sprinkler, and (if applicable) kitchen hood/hood suppression system, on its own timeline distinct from the Town's review.

Tips
- Commercial's published 15-business-day review target is longer than the 10-business-day residential target — budget accordingly, and remember this is a target, not a guarantee.
- Mountain View Fire Protection District requires its own Plan Review Application for commercial construction, separate from and in addition to the fire alarm/sprinkler/kitchen hood submittals — plan for this fire-district track to run in parallel with, not sequentially after, the Town's own review.
- The General Contractor license categories (Class A General Contractor, Class B Building Contractor, Class C Residential Contractor) require an active ICC Certification and Certificate of Insurance — a different documentation set than the Electrical/Plumbing/Mechanical/Specialty contractor license categories documented elsewhere in this file. Contractor
- There is no dedicated commercial valuation fee table — commercial projects are billed on the same general Building Permit Fee schedule (Exhibit A) as residential projects.
