When you need this permit

Tips
- Berthoud's design criteria (35 psf ground snow load, up to 140 mph ultimate wind speed) are lighter on snow than mountain jurisdictions but the wind-speed range is genuinely wide (115-140 mph) — confirm your engineer is using the correct site-specific figure from the Colorado Front Range Gust Map or the Larimer County map, not a flat assumption.
- New construction must satisfy the Colorado Model Electric and Solar Ready Code (Appendix RM) — budget for a designated solar-ready roof zone and an EV-ready garage circuit even if you aren't installing solar panels or an EV charger at time of construction.
- A Residential General Contractor C Town license (in addition to any state trade licenses your subcontractors hold) is required before permit issuance — confirm your GC's Town license is current, not just their state contractor status.
