Tips

  • Uintah County's Outbuildings Packet states: 'Please allow us a minimum of ten (10) working days for processing a completed building permit.' Incomplete applications will not be accepted and are returned to the applicant, which restarts the review clock.
  • The Building Division requires TWO complete, legible, to-scale sets of plans (minimum 11x17) — one approved set is returned to the applicant at permit issuance, the other is kept on file.
  • A hydrant-location letter from your water provider is required on most applications; if the hydrant is more than 600 feet away, get a separate approval letter from Fire Marshal Jeremy Raymond, (435) 781-6756.
  • An approved inspection is required at least every 180 days from permit issuance or the permit expires and becomes null and void.
  • Permit refunds may be requested up to 90 days after approval and prior to work commencing; a maximum of 80% of the permit fee may be refunded, at the Building Official's discretion.
  • Design loads to show on plans: wind 115 mph (3-second gust), seismic zone C, roof snow load 30 lbs/sq ft, ground snow load 39 lbs/sq ft, minimum 30-inch footing depth for frost protection.
  • Manufactured homes on private lots require a full perimeter foundation system per County Code 18.03 of the Administrative Manual — this is in addition to the manufacturer's required chassis/pier support and is a separate, more expensive requirement than a typical 'park setup.'
